Received a $12,000 grant to increase composting use in University of Washington cafeterias by using community-based social marketing. Project work included conducting behavioral observations, interviewing students and staff to identify motivations and barriers to composting, testing messaging and infrastructure improvements, designing a communications strategy to promote the use of composting, and providing a recommendations report on how to improve management practices.

Developed and implemented a research program to evaluate the readability of Forest Service technical documents. Project work included developing a research framework and evaluation tool based on 34 document elements, analyzing research findings, and providing recommendations for improving document readability.

Intern responsible for conducting a program evaluation of the organization’s science and restoration program. Project work included identifying program goals, developing a program logic model, interviewing staff and volunteers, reviewing relevant literature, and developing a report highlighting the programs key assets and recommendations for improvement.

Educate local high school students about social justice, sustainability, climate change, ecosystem services, and other environmental issues.Lead a team of local high school students in restoration of local parks.Correspond with other non-profit organizations to coordinate restoration efforts.

Used a watershed model from the EPA to estimate yearly runoff values based on various types of development scenarios. These runoff values can quantify important differences between high and low density developments.

Researched and took data measurements for a Ph.D. candidate on a study of the effects of invasive Japanese knotweed on riparian tree seedlings.Measured sapling biomass, soil pH, soil nutrient content, C:N ratios, and identification of mycorrhizal associations.
