Eight short months later, we were shipping shoes for Nordstrom.com by recruiting an amazing team of technology and operations talent and implementing:• Full supply chain execution system, including a custom web platform with a full suite of user applications for product management, inventory management and order status; customized warehouse management system to support co-mingled inventory in a third party distribution center; and a transportation management system to support the wide array of shipping options and contracts for a broad set of customers.• 250,000+ square foot distribution center with a broad array of material handling equipment to support highly varied inventory and order composition. After iFulfillment's acquisition by Innotrac, I managed large-scale packaged and custom systems implementation projects, including e-commerce and catalog retail platforms, CRM, warehouse management and supply chain execution for Nordstrom, Smith & Hawken, Martha Stewart Living, Ann Taylor, Wilsons Leather, Innotrac Corporation and others.• Served as the primary customer interface during the sales, implementation and service phases of the customer lifecycle.• Managed the in-house software development teams and processes for Innotrac's custom solutions, often cited as a key competitive advantage in the third party logistics market.• Developed integration strategy for bringing together a diverse set of systems from Innotrac's acquisitions to present a best in class integrated systems for third party logistics.• Worked with customers in the sales and implementation phases to define requirements and implementation plans to ensure quick, reliable systems integration and operations. -
Director, EcommercePeapod 1999 - 2000Chicago, Illinois, UsScotty's Home Market, later acquired by Peapod, was unique among the v1.0 grocery delivery companies: it focused on executional excellence and was profitable on a unit basis. A keen combination of customer focus, operational execution, and engineering-led solutions were what we enjoyed doing at Scotty's.Scotty's emerged through the dot-com bubble to service the Chicago market for Peapod and is the basis for its fulfillment operations strategy. At Scotty's I was responsible for the development of Scottyscan, the first mobile grocery scanning and ordering device. We worked with Symbol Technologies (Motorola) to deploy its Palm Pilot with an integrated barcode scanner. Our hypothesis was to give qualified but infrequent customers an easier way to create their weekly orders to increase frequency and order size. The program was a success: • “Light” users (customers previously ordering less than 24 times per year) showed the greatest increase in order frequency with a 47% increase from 17 to 25 orders per year.• New customers using Scottyscan demonstrated a purchase frequency more than double the Scotty’s average (35 orders versus 17 orders per year);• The use of Scottyscan resulted in a 33% increase in revenue realized per household for Scotty’s Home Market. For Scottyscan, I developed the strategy, evaluated and selected vendors, managed the implementation schedule, developed its integration with our web application and recruited a group of college interns to facilitate the delivery, training and support for our customers. -
