Senior Manager Online Insights And Advanced Analytics (Data Science And Analytics Org.)The Home DepotAtlanta, Ga, Us -
Senior Manager Online Insights And Advanced Analytics (Data Science & Analytics Org.)The Home Depot May 2022 - PresentAtlanta, Georgia, United States• Lead a large team with high exposure: Created a team of 20+ providing advanced analytics to multiple stakeholders, including SVP- and VP-level decision makers • Super-charging insights with data science and AI: Data science concepts are usually confined to customer-facing applications, but not internal insights. We’re changing that by building a framework that allows users to harness powerful forecasting models and other data science / AI capabilities (including ‘Doppler’ below), even if the user specializes in an unrelated domain• Excel in change management and cultural creation: In the wake of a reorganization just prior to my promotion, hired-up team to meet increased demands from new leadership. Prior to my tenure as Sr. Manager, much of the team was largely unknown, mainly producing adhoc insights for manager- and analyst-level stakeholders. We now regularly surface our insights to top-of-the-house stakeholders (see above) to influence major initiatives -
Manager Online Insights (Data Science & Analytics Org.)The Home Depot May 2021 - PresentAtlanta, Georgia, United States• Introduced advanced statistics to analytics: Created ‘Project Doppler’, an initiative that is providing the first precise, impartial, and automated means of determining the impact of key actions, a critical requirement for CEX’s quarterly prioritization. Doppler’s applicability is vast, so much so that our Reporting and Testing teams are basing their annual strategy on the project’s output• Collaborated with Cornell to improve models for better insights: Guided a successful and highly relevant internship, one that combined causal impact and dynamic time warping using Python to produce a vital measurement component for Project Doppler• Democratized insights: Improved the visibility of our analytical insights by overseeing the creation of our first portal -
Manager Ecommerce Merchandising (Category Experience)The Home Depot Jul 2018 - May 2021Greater Atlanta Area• Created business process with huge ROI: Proposed and introduced major elements of Department Business Review (‘DBR’), an initiative that increased CEX’s revenue contribution by an estimated $40M-50M from 2018 to 2019. • Invented a highly-used tool: Created the ‘Nuro Widget’, an Excel-based tool that lets users calculate the possible impact of their work and therefore improve prioritization• Research led to major operational change: Led a meta-study on Hybrid pages and their efficacy. Through compiling 25 tests, I determined the conditions in which Hybrids are most likely to succeed. Since completing the study and publishing its results, the Hybrid format has proliferated across HD.com• Leaned into talent development: Solved a variety of managerial challenges while maintaining strong results• Effective stakeholder management: Solved major dysfunction in a cross functional group I inherited in summer of 2020. Upon arriving, there was friction due to (i) a lack of consensus around the strategy for the quarter, (ii) concerns over work overload, and (iii) bottlenecks in requests. My solution was to reach out to each partner, hear their frustrations, and adapt my DBR to fit their needs while maintaining high productivity. The resulting DBR format became a blueprint that merchants have encouraged other DBR groups to follow• Managed up’ for additional ROI: Advocated to directors and senior managers for the creation of Combo Kit Ghost SSKUs, a solution that improves the complicated experience of shopping for power tools and accessories. This was necessary to dispel the misconception that the Ghost SSKUs would require a heavy incremental lift from IDM. After presenting my case, leadership gave us the green light to continue creating these SSKUs, which have earned an incremental $5M in about a month -
