I assisted Colossal Training through the MCA accreditation process with regards to their involvement in delivering the STCW short courses at the recently-opened Port Academy, Liverpool. Initially when I first started the consultancy in July 2014, my sole service was providing STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibility training to a client in the local area to cover staff with other responsibilities. In January 2015, my services were expanded to the extent that I now also have leadership of the client's STCW Personal Survival Techniques course and have additionally been providing a maritime consultancy service on a full-time basis, when not providing STCW training. Notable achievements during my time as a consultant include:- Provision of maritime safety related input on a professional basis to a globally recognised newspaper- Citation of dissertation in articles by Skuld and in the April 2015 edition of Tanker Operator- Redevelopment of the PST and PSSR courses (pending MCA approval) - Introduction of a full-scale liferaft training model in the classroom- Commercial feasibility assessments for several STCW courses, to aid the client in determining whether to provide these- Ongoing development of CSO, SSO and PFSO courses- Development of an enhanced on-board emergency preparedness training service- Development of an ISM auditing and review service

In charge of safe navigation of vessel in accordance with international and local laws in the Local European Area. Began training for loading of vessel in compliance with the environmental monitoring system, Crown Estate requirements and licence conditions. Responsible for discharging of cargo - this can be particularly dangerous as unexploded munitions left on the seabed from WWII have been known to be picked up by dredgers.Other duties included monitoring and maintaining the ship's medical supplies and ordering requisitions as required, through the on-board planned maintenance system. Also in charge of passage planning and ensuring the vessel's charts and publications are maintained and kept up to date along with ensuring the bridge navigation equipment was maintained properly and prepared correctly for passage between berths.On board MV Arco Avon during annual dry docking at Middlesbrough in January 2012. On MV Arco Dee, assisted chief mate in renewing dredging equipment wires and reconstruction of dredge pipe after maintenance period.

Involved in emergency response after the Coxswain fell ill during crew transfer by ship's tender.

All training carried out on container ships owned by Pacific International Lines (Ltd).Events of interest on-board the ships I was on for sea-based training include responding to security threats while engaged in passages around the Horn of Africa and West African coastal areas. This included managing, and assisting in the interview of, stowaways and responding to general emergency alarms during several pirate attacks.Successfully completed my cadetship, passing the MCA Orals first time and receiving my OOW (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency in October 2010.
