About David Corkish, Mni

Ship's agent with experience working vessels at various UK ports including Merseyside, North Wales & Scotland. The agency has experience working with general cargo, bulk, tankers, offshore support & construction. and cruise vessels. We have also developed a strong reputation for handling dead tow operations & layups. My own experience includes time served at sea as a navigation officer working on container vessels, buoy tenders and dredgers. After coming ashore I read Nautical Science at Liverpool John Moores University. My research dissertation focused on the ISM Code and was cited in an article included in a major P&I Club's journal. After being awarded an upper second class degree with honours, I spent time delivering STCW training sessions & developing course material to MCA requirements. Following this, I moved on to the Port Operations department at CMA CGM, Liverpool. Here I worked closely with 3rd party feeder operators, before moving on to the Southampton & London operations and finally over to the Transhipments desk. In the latter I was solely responsible for handling all queries to the transhipment inbox which covered all of CMA CGMs UK calls. Each of these roles involved handling journey legs within the company internal systems, producing and checking hazardous manifests against DGNs, producing and checking reefer manifests, communicating with stakeholders and ensuring that CNS & Destin8 were set up correctly for each container against the right vessel. In 2021 I was unfortunately made redundant due to a department relocation exercise and spent a short time working at LHR Holdings as an Import & Supply Chain Manager during a very challenging period for logistics (e.g., M/V "Ever Given" blocking the Suez Canal) before successfully applying for my current position at Frank Armitt & Son, Ltd. Here we were able to assist a number of remarkable vessels during their UK calls including a barge loading port cargo handling cranes, various jack-up rigs and a number of cruise ship calls. I have also made use of my experience developing procedures and quality systems, including updating the Agency Analysis and Supplier Review systems. I will shortly begin studying for an ICS Advanced Diploma with a view to completing my PQEs in the not to distant future.

Listed skills include Maritime Operations, Maritime, International Shipping, Shipping, and 46 others.
