As a Senior Director, I oversee our Shared Engineering Infrastructure and Services team which provides R&D Hardware labs, Hardware and Platform development, Developer Tools, Automation Frameworks, Compliance and Technical Publications and Product Operations. My teams engage with our individual Product Development teams and enable them through their particular area of expertise.I work with individual business unit leadership to provide engineering operations information for budgeting, engineering cloud platform expenditure in Azure and AWS, product headcount allocation, R&D tax credits and managing the overall development engineering teams.I continue in my role as the Champaign, IL site director attempting to leverage our University of Illinois Research Park location to seek out engagement opportunities and discover engineering talent for potential internships and open full-time positions. As a director, I oversaw our Engineering Infrastructure team which included R&D Hardware Engineering Labs, Developer Tools, Automation Framework and Technical Publications teams. My teams engaged with Product Management for evaluation of Development and Quality Engineering needs. My position consisted of being the project manager and Agile / Scrum Product Owner for the Steelhead QA Automation team. Our team is created a test automation ecosystem which uses some of the latest technologies and tools to implement a test framework for Riverbed. The Steelhead product development teams used our test automation framework to validate and verify their innovative features through all phases of code development. The automation team is responsible for building the initial test infrastructure libraries, providing design guidance as teams extend the test infrastructure and training to teams as they onboard into the ecosystem. Our team used the agile scrum methodology to manage our projects.Tools used: Python, Git, reviewboard, PyDev, py.test, Jenkins, TestRail, KVM, Openstack, Salt, Bugzilla and RTD.

My position consisted of developing and optimizing a global test strategy for our redesigned cloud services which provided over-the-air updates of android handsets and acquiring key metric mobile data for our analytics services. My role included end-to-end cloud service validation, performing test optimization and over-all test process for the cloud services group. I created and chaired an internal working group that was to help facilitate increasing the amount of automation across all of our product work streams. I transitioned into a Scrum Master role for our Scrum team that was designing and implementing our unified automation framework. I assisted in designing our test process to begin implementing the transition of our teams into an Agile / Scrum development environment using open-source tools, eg. greenhopper. A key deliverable was to design our internal tools and processes to present management with near real time test execution data dashboards to allow service deployment decisions to be made on observable data.

My role concerned testing Motorola branded cloud services for global social network aggregation (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, Orkut, Skyrock, Bebo, Renren, Kaixin, 51), Connected Media Player and Connected Gallery (Flikr, Picasa, Photobucket) with a focus on handsets using the Android platform. The test architect role included the evaluation of validation methods from server side feature testing through end-to-end deployment test of the service on global carrier networks. My role was to provide in-depth analysis of system designs and implementations to evaluate risk to global cellular network deployability (analyzing polling and push architecture dependencies) and to ensure customer satisfaction with the cloud services. This was performed through system analysis, test case evaluation, test case design, test plan creation, test plan execution overview and bug filing with triage in Bugzilla / Jira. My particular role also included a focus on high impacting customer perception of quality features, battery consumption and user interface performance. I also functioned as part of my local team to assist in promoting continuous improvement through team member training, escaped defect analysis and test case development review moderation.

As the deployment test architect for the Motorola ZN5 T-Mobile product deployment, I was involved in coordinating the review of requirements for testability, cross team group planning and scheduling, exploratory testing, and customer acceptance testing. A major focus of the testing was ensuring the complete photo experience defined by the Kodak Environment. For T-Mobile, there was a focus on T-Mobile brand specific applications and implementations particularly on T-Mobile @Home connect service using UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access). I provided expertise on service requirements and test methods for validating product and services robustness for battery consumption, user interface performance, memory consumption, longevity, and stress test scenarios. I also performed a PM role for the automation framework used to validate the quality of the product and service. I supplied work scheduling, resource planning, bug triage, and status reporting.

I chaired the OMA-IOP-PRC SubWorkingGroup which was creating OMA-IOP WG documents for OMA-DM 1.2, FUMO 1.0, DiagMON, ConnMO, Web Services IFC for DM, SC Web Server, OMA-Charging, OMA-Gaming Services CSI, and vObject 1.0.

I provided technical lead support for all Motorola Common Application Architecture (CAA) teams for reviewing and generating regression test plans for 3G and GSM products. I coordinated with all stakeholders across the software development cycle to provide cross component information to project management by defining the process for use of a common standard tool. I assisted the internal auditing team for documenting and defining the CAA regression test process for successful attainment of ISO9001. I assisted test management in coordination and oversight of the test execution group onboarding in Brazil. I continued participating in global standards activities as elected chair of SubWorking Group in the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). I was elected as OMA-IOP-DMSYNC chair and drove the creation of the OMA-IOP documents for OMA-DS 1.2, OMA-DM 1.2. I continued as the Motorola representative in the OMA-IOP WG which defines the overall IOP process for all OMA enablers.

As a software QA in feature test, I developed test suites for the accessory interface. This included verification for the Starfish synchronization product and subsequent Mobile Phone Tools Software package. I progressed to feature testing of SyncML (Now OMA Data Synchronization, (OMA-DS) and OMA Device Management (OMA-DM)) protocol testing for synchronization and device provisioning. I coded functional feature test cases in TestMaster modeling tool and Java. Test cases covered positive, negative, stress, and interaction cases. I represented our feature test team on the Software Process Improvements Team. I became a Motorola representative to the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), and joined OMA-IOP WG and became interim chair of the OMA-IOP-DMSYNC Sub Working Group which drove the creation of the enabler test specifications for OMA-DS 1.1.1, OMA-DS 1.1.2, OMA-DM 1.1.1, OMA-DM 1.1.2 and CP 1.1.

As a Hardware Test Engineer and Test Lead for Cummins products, I designed and developed hardware and software for validating the PCB manufacture using a custom test bay on the factory build line. I created software releases for the functional test bay in 'C' for Lab Windows environment using a VXI chassis for multiple products. I led a team of four engineers, coaching them on development practices and project management. I initiated and successfully completed a project to compile standard test strategies and hardware load configurations.

My personal circuit design focused on the thermocouple interface. Job functions included schematic capture in Mentor Graphics, worst case analysis, FMEA, prototype bring-up, circuit functional testing, RF conformance to standards, feature validation, and interfacing with our manufacturing facility hardware test engineering group for PCB build validation and manufacturability.
