I may not be your typical data analyst but that is what makes me special. I have worked in healthcare for the past 25 years and "the data" has never been far from my mind. In healthcare, as in every area of life, we are constantly generating data, but for so long we relied on the information that was coming from scientific studies alone. What about the data that we are generating every day? How do we learn from our everyday practices and our everyday outcomes? Working in healthcare has put me in the forefront of patient care, but I believe I can continue to improve patients’ lives by combining my medical knowledge with analytic skills. This is why I have spent the last nine months developing my knowledge base in data analytics. I will complete my data analytics certificate program with Springboard.com in October, 2020. I have strong skills in Excel, business acumen, exploratory, and statistical data analysis. I am also comfortable with SQL and Python and I am actively evolving these skills daily. My goal is to find a position that can utilize my experience and analytic skills to achieve better business and patient outcomes.Interestingly, in review of my work experience, my greatest accomplishments and accolades have all come from taking on data projects where I saw a need, worked the project, and then utilized my strong presentation proficiencies to deliver the results. For example, while employed at Amgen, I was awarded a coveted Spot Stock Award for an analytics project I took on out of my own volition that evaluated how the current clinical practices in an individual facility were impacting patient outcomes and affecting sales. In 2014, I presented my abstract, 'The Relationship Between Papillary Serous Endometrial Cancer and BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 Mutations in a Community Care Setting' at the 14th World Congress on Menopause in Cancun Mexico. This was a project that I worked on for four years outside of my patient care role and involved significant data collection, cleansing, and analysis, as well as a presentation in front of hundreds of physicians and other healthcare professionals. These are just a few examples of many data projects I have taken on.My love for data has driven me to pursue data analytics as a career. However, it is my continued curiosity that will continue to drive me to learn more about analytics and programming, and to see where the data will lead me.
