I am a digital wizard, engineer, a born problem solver and part-time helicopter instructor. I am passionate about leveraging technology, specifically mobile, chat, and artificial intelligence services, to revolutionize the way businesses operate and serve their clients. We built trading and portfolio management systems to automate and enhance our clients’ businesses. Our clients ranged from small owner run firms to large top 4 corporate banks (in SA) and the largest stock exchange in Africa.We are extremely proud to be part of all our client’s growth and success. In one case from a fledging wealth management business with 25 internal professionals and few thousand retail clients to over 500 internal professionals and nearly 100,000 retail clients in just over 10 years. All anchored on Nutcrackers software platforms and made possible by keeping their technology costs low and sophisticated problem solving.My family’s relocation from South Africa to the United Kingdom and the meant it was time for my exit from Nutcracker SA and to look for new experiences. Fortunately the recent demand of personalised client journeys and the explosion of AI and services has felt like Christmas for me. I am in technology heaven.I am now loving building software to enhance my clients offering and relationship to their clients as well as automate their internal processes. My client’s success is my success. Co-Founder, Architect And Lead DeveloperNutcracker Technologies (Pty) Ltd 2001 - PresentAs the technical co-founder I conceptualised the Nutcracker SaaS solution to provide trading and portfolio management functionality to our stockbroker and wealth manager clients.Some key achievements- Co-founded and managed a successful software business for over 20 years, creating and delivering high speed, low latency trading systems and data centric portfolio management software for banks, stockbrokers, and portfolio/fund managers. - Led a talented, diverse high performance technical team with 0 staff turnover for over 12 years.- Architected and developed a trading and asset management platform that connected, in real-time, to over 50 exchanges worldwide (using FIX and native) while providing real-time market data & event notifications and trading features and functions to more than 1,000 professional and over 100,000 retails users on all devices & platforms- Designed, architected and developed an all-encompassing portfolio management solution which provided the following core functionalities: CRM, client grouping, modelling (including bulk order management), compliance, fees, digital dashboards and advanced reporting to all levels of user, from executive to external client, and on all platforms, desktop, tablet and mobile.- Designed and led the (re-engineering initiative to use clean architecture, containers & orchestration and cloud services (PaaS and FaaS) which reduced capital costs by over 700% and increased reliability. - Boosted client delivery of new features and decreased deployment time of new software releases from over four weeks to under an hour by maximizing use of DevOps automation, CI/CD and cloud services.

Technical ConsultantGreenstone May 2022 - Dec 2023London, England, United KingdomGreenstone had an impressive software offering that had unfortunately accumulated a lot of technical debt over the previous 15 years. I analysed the their software, highlighted the key problem areas and then provided a road map for a re-engineering exercise to their executive team. I then developed a prototype using modern architectures and programming principles (SOLID) to demonstrate the proposed solution. The prototype kept the valuable IP of their legacy solution while encouraging modularity and good programming principles. To get the maximum advantage out the prototype, I provided guidance to their team on how to use the new concepts and also to avoid technical debt build up in the future. -
