Co-managed selected portfolios for Sanlam Investment Management, one of South Africa’s largest investment management companies with assets under management of over R400bn. Co-managed the groups exposure to the Mid- and Small cap sectors with direct influence on all in-house portfolios and separately managed Small cap unit trust. Co-managed the Sanlam small cap unit trust which was the country’s top unit trust from 2003 through 2005. In addition, was actively involved with the Sanlam Financial Fund, a South African unit trust focusing on the banking, insurance and financial sectors. The fund had a solid track record coming first in its category for 2001 and second in 2002. Responsible for all aspects of portfolio management including investment plan development, selection of investments, portfolio management, communication with the in-house traders, and relationship management. Responsibilities included presentations, report backs, making strategic decisions, based on company analysis within the investment process, building model portfolios and ensuring that recommendations are implemented.
