I have relocated to Manchester to work in the Industry Team at CRN GM, hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. I am responsible for working with sponsors, Contract Research Organisations (CROs) and participating organisations across Greater Manchester, providing support to aid swift set-up times and performance management of all commercial portfolio studies.- Actively facilitating the CRN feasibility and site selection processes, helping determine where to place commercial studies - Working with research sites, CROs / sponsors, CRN Co-ordinating Centre to ensure timely / rapid set-up and effective conduct of studies so that researchers can gather the robust evidence needed to improve treatments for NHS patients- Attendance at Site Selection and Site Initiation Visits. Working with sites and sponsors / CROs to troubleshoot set-up issues and develop recruitment strategies, resolving / escalating issues as appropriate- Active performance management of studies to ensure Recruitment to Time and Target (RTT). Identifying early blocks in performance and developing strategies to deal with these in conjunction with sites, R&D departments, Industry sponsor / CRO, and CRN Co-ordinating Centre.- Working with sites to monitor ongoing accurate accrual data- Collaboration with the Business Development Manager, Research Delivery Managers and Specialty Leads to build a working knowledge of the Principal Investigators (PIs) and teams across Greater Manchester, supporting new PIs and teams as requiredI oversee research activity at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, East Cheshire NHS Trust, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

I project managed non-commercial research sponsored by Newcastle Hospitals in a range of therapeutic areas, supporting Chief Investigators with clinical trial management throughout the various stages of the project lifecycle. I was the Single Point of Contact for GP practices in County Durham CCG and North Tyneside CCG. - Site Identification, site feasibility and study set-up across Primary Care, Secondary Care and non-NHS settings- Costing and contract negotiations for commercial and non-commercial studies- Gathering of regulatory documentation, MHRA, REC, HRA Approval- Completion of local governance documentation for a number of NHS Trusts to begin R&D review- R&D function for Primary Care and Non-NHS settings, delivering Site Initiation Visits, obtaining Letters of Access, confirming C&C for GP practices in the region and raising payments per research activity- Obtaining local site approvals e.g. IR(ME)R, ARSAC, Caldicott, New Interventions Committee for Medical Devices, Supporting Departments e.g. Pharmacy, Labs, RadiologyDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, I was redeployed to support Newcastle Hospitals with the delivery of their Urgent Public Health portfolio. I supported the successful delivery of two COVID vaccine studies, and prepared the Trust for a potential MHRA inspection.Passionate about clinical research in the North East and North Cumbria, promoting the region’s capacity to lead and support research, targeting underserved communities and areas with the greatest need.

Transfer delayed due to Urgent Public Health prioritisation.Nov 2020 - Feb 2021: During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was redeployed to support the Urgent Public Health portfolio at Newcastle Hospitals and manage the successful delivery of a commercial vaccine trial. Working as a Clinical Trials Co-ordinator, I supported the COVID Research Team with protocol and contract amendments, finance, ISF audit & maintenance, sample shipment and data management.

I was a Data Manager in Oncology/Haematology Research at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Freeman Hospital. I worked on many commercial and non-commercial studies, and was the first member of staff to work across both specialties during the early stages of the merge between Malignant Haematology and Late Phase Oncology. This allowed me to gain experience of clinical trials in breast, prostate and head and neck cancer.- Data transcription from source documentation onto paper Case Report Forms or input into Electronic Data Capture.- Ensuring data entry was GCP compliant and verifiable from source.- Responding to data queries and monitoring reports.- Prioritising tasks in order of patient safety.- Reporting of Adverse Events / Serious Adverse Events / Suspected Unexpected Serious Adverse Reactions.- Creating source data worksheets to capture all required data from the study protocol.

I temporarily returned to my former role, assigned to the Dermatology team, now a part of RVI Medical Records. In the meantime, I was aiming for a post better matched to my skills and long-term career goals. I want a job in healthcare where my contribution is something that I find rewarding. I decided to await the advertisement of a Data Management post, a role in clinical research which I have been interested in since working for the Staff Bank.

Working in a trainee role in the Clinical Coding department between the RVI and Freeman sites, I mainly helped the Coding Assistants by using my skills in Medical Records to obtain casenotes for deadline while awaiting the commencement of the Clinical Coding Standards Course. After training, I was responsible for the extraction of medical information from casenotes for paediatric episodes and dental, dermatology and fertility proformas, translating complex clinical data regarding patient diagnosis and clinical procedures into alphanumeric codes. Assigning the correct codes ensured the appropriate tariff was selected so that the Trust claimed Payment by Results (PbR) and was essential for the effective management of the Trust, forming the basis for clinical audit, research and clinical governance reporting.

Previously on the Nurse Bank in Eye Medical Records (October 2014 - January 2015), I joined the Trust permanently in Dermatology Medical Records, RVI. I was responsible for the retention of confidential information relating to patients. I participated in the general maintenance of the Dermatology Medical Records library such as digitally tracking notes to file, locating miss-filed notes with the Go-Find gun and archiving deceased casenotes. This role allowed me to gain knowledge of the Health Records Act, the Data Protection Act, familiarise myself with patient management systems and become aware of patient waiting time targets. I also learnt how to create a medical record and where the different types of information should be filed within the casenotes. I was responsible for meeting deadlines while retrieving patient casenotes for the purpose of clinics, emergency admissions and audits while entering data into a number of systems on eRecord to assist me. The job required good organisational skills due to frequent interruptions from telephone requests for casenotes.My achievement in this role was working in a small team to transfer our Medical Records library from the old numeric filing system via the MRN to the new system where records are scanned to a ducket within the shelving and assigned with an RFID tag using iFIT Live, replacing HIM Tracking. The new process ensured all records had the ability to be picked up on readers around the Trust, making maximum use of resources, resulting in timeliness access to casenotes when required for patient care.My experience led to me training new members of staff, guiding them through the processes, delegating duties and offering feedback. I was given the task of showing a new member of staff how to do the secretarial morning and afternoon trolley run; a role which I had done alongside my medical records trolley run until the department recruited a replacement.

I worked in the Commercial department of a small store, between the Warehouse and Price Control. Working independently, I was solely in charge of the warehouse and any vehicle movements on the loading bay during my shift. I was responsible for ensuring the warehouse was ready to receive a delivery and worked as a team to ensure out of stock products were picked during the unloading to meet company assessed targets and customer expectations. I was required to maintain accurate inventory, work with dangerous machinery, unload wagons, transfer stock and break down the delivery ready for night shift colleagues.As a Price Controller, I was responsible for ensuring deadlines were met so that the store was legal and compliant with regards to pricing and advertising. My duties included printing store reports and checking them for any irregularities, filing away documentation into a retention folder, ordering office supplies and dealing with incoming calls from customers. I printed off price tickets and advertising as well as checked e-mails for product withdrawals. Part of this role required me to work in the cash office where I was responsible for counting the money from each till and checking it off against reports and reporting any errors.

Responding to complaints and enquiries, processing refunds, goodwill and ensuring that the customer left the store fully satisfied. Other duties included selling age restricted products and asking for proof of age when required, reading promotions out over the tannoy and answering internal and external telephone calls.
