Training Officer
CurrentThe overall responsibility of the position encompasses training and overseeing the success of all training hosted by NSRI and the 53 stations across South Africa. With the assistance of the training team we train, develop, and assess a multitude of skills needed to be an effective SAR crew member. Courses covered include, but not limited to, Class 1 to 5 Coxswain development and assessment, SRC VHF licenses, MEX (Maritime extrication), MEC (Maritime emergency care), Swift water rescue, Electronic Navigation Systems.Responsibilities include Leadership, Teamwork and Team Management: As a well-oiled training team, we practice and lecture effective leadership and followership characteristics and traits. Running and planning training courses across the country, developing and honing leadership skills within our 1500 volunteer crew. Communication and Relationship building: Develop, build and retain relationships with corporate donors as well as all internal crew, Station commanders and external stakeholders. Policy/procedure optimisation: Development and optimisation of new training guidelines and procedures. Course Organization and Management: Courses include, but are not limited to, Class 1 to 5 Coxswain development and assessment, SRC VHF licenses, MEX (Maritime extrication), MEC (Maritime emergency care), Swift water rescue and Electronic Navigation Systems. Reporting: Produce weekly reports on our eLearning platform with regards to actions and progress of all crew and individual feedback reports on all candidates that attend the above mentioned courses. Budget: Ensure all activities are within budget and that cost containment is achieved.
