Ericksen Initiatives is in the business of making organizations stronger, saving money and giving trustworthy advice about using technology. I like looking at the big picture: what is trying to be accomplished, and what are some innovative/affordable ways to make it happen? Sometimes this can be frustrating, as technology is not the answer for everything. More often it's exciting, because there are so many useful tools being created and refined every day. Marrying smart technology with a good cause is what I love to do. I've seen a lot. From 1989 to 1994 I worked at Microsoft in a number of technical positions. I left to join another Microsoft alumni in starting a web design firm, Free Range Media, and as the first employee help grow that company from zero to over fifty people in two years. I then took the Technical director spot at ONE/Northwest, where I did strategic consulting for ten years focusing on the nonprofit environmental community. For the three years to follow I was the Director of IT at grist.org, overseeing significant growth and all of the challenges associated with a growing business. My work involves: * Operational Assessments - How to save money and become more efficient by making smart, informed decisions about technology * Publishing strategy - Using multiple channels (web, email, RSS, social networks, etc) to deliver your message to your audiences without a duplication of work * Opportunistic Projects - Progressive projects that would benefit from my experience
