Extremely knowledge in developing countries, working closely with the groundstaff to improve standards, the standards are mainly achieved with my hands on approach, working side by side with the groundstaff, mentoring and coaching.Lead Pitch consultant for 6 Champions League Finals.Having over 34 years experience of working inside a stadium environment, I understand all the difficulties faced. Through my time as a groundsman, I have adapted to each and every environment. Beit cool season grasses, warm season grasses or transitional pitches, having to work with all budget types, ie, lighting Riggs and undersoil heating, to limited fertiliser and equipment, hand aerating, hand scarification etc. I soon realised nothing is impossible, everything is achievable. Working as a Rugby Groundsman (for a majority of my time), with no reinforcement, taught me that root development was the most important factor of ensuring a great playing surface, this approach has certainly aided with my latest quest for perfection. I will happily support and share experiences with likeminded Groundsmen/women across the globe. I take great pleasure in seeing other Groundsmen improve standards around me.
