My school holidays were nearly always spent with my family and extended family in southern Tasmania. I spent a lots of time swimming at the beach, trying to surf, fishing, water skiing and learning to sail small boats by trial and error. Mainly, by error…The more time in the water the better. Not naturally good at sports, I loved being outside. I gravitated to activities which suited my strengths. Team sports such as Canoe polo also membership of my local Scout troop involving lots of camping and hiking fitted well with my love of water and the outdoors. The water has always been a big part of my life and much of my spare time is still spent in it or on it in boats sailing, fishing and water skiing. My three sons appear to be developing the same interests as I have!All these activities taught me about solving multi-faceted problems and the importance, enjoyment and opportunity to be gained from putting back into the community. I've enjoyed contributing as board chairman of the Hobart Clinic Association and also as Treasurer of Blue Cow Theatre Inc. I thrived on this community involvement and the opportunity to work with organisations which are very different from my everyday work and am currently looking for the next opportunityMy role at WLF Accounting & Advisory contains great variety. Every client’s business and affairs are different. I love the opportunity to deal with multi-faceted issues; unpacking the parts with my client and helping them to achieve a solution which meets their needs. The moment when my client sees the solution to their issues coming together in front of them is like rough, unnavigable water suddenly becoming still and calm for them.
