I am a 1986 graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. After graduating, I worked for several prominent advertising agencies in southern California. In 1989 I struck out on my own and formed Dean Mitchell Design in San Diego, CA. Since setting out on my own I have worked for a wide variety of clients, including: Daiwa fishing tackle, Solatube tubular skylights, Lamkin golf grips, Wilson Racquetball, Sejersen DPS, Hewlett-Packard, Managed Solution, Huston McCaffrey, LLC and Ocean Properties Development Corporation. In addition to having several clients of my own, I work with advertising agencies, in-house marketing departments and design studios as a freelance designer/art director.

I was their freelance senior graphic designer. While there, our team's projects included revamping their entire website, print brochures and catalogs. My core job was art directing and coordinating the photography of their entire product line and then designing this new look into their new website. I helped introduce an agency-like job numbering system and file nomenclature approach that made finding files easy.

I wasn't a staff Art Director here, but I came in for a freelance gig in 1994 and wound up staying with the great people at Phillips-Ramsey (Campbell-Mithun, now Meadsdurket) for 12 years. Here, I worked on WD-40, The San Diego Zoo, CalComp, Del Mar Racetrack, Hughes and many other accounts.

For the Flash, I created all of their marketing and branding materials including: Upgrading their logo, Game Programs, Schedule Posters, Yearbooks, Ticket Design, Newspaper Advertising and Corporate Investor kits.

Created campaigns for Hewlett Packard's large format printers, including: Sample Poster, Direct Mail, Campaign logos etc.

Designed and produced Brochures, Catalogs, P.O.P. materials and Presentation materials for Unifiber Golf Shafts.

Designed Annual Reports for: The Port of San Diego, Advanced Marketing Services and the Bank of San Diego. Additionally designed and produced SDG&E's business owners savings brochures.

I was an Art Director here primarily on the Daiwa fishing tackle account. Additionally, I worked on Polaris Pool Systems and Imperial Savings.

In my pre-Art Center days I was a record store display artist and won 19 different in-store display contests.
