I direct the utility accommodation and coordination program for the Iowa Department of Transportation including the accommodation of utility facilities within the highway right of way; notification to utility companies of impending construction; the negotiation of relocation reimbursement agreements; the acquisition of the utility companies' interests in real estate; and the contract program for reimbursement to utility companies for relocation on privately owned land.

I perform administrative and technical work in the planning, preparation, coordination and negotiation of legally binding agreements between the Iowa Department of Transportation and local public agencies, other states and private companies.

I administered the utility coordination program for the Iowa Department of Transportation including the notification to utility companies of impending construction, the negotiation of relocation reimbursement agreements and the acquisition of the utility companies' interests in real estate. I also administered thecontract program for reimbursement to utility companies for relocation on privately owned land. Actively participated in the review and revision of the Iowa Administrative Rules regarding utility accommodation and adjustments. Drafted the new rules outlining the requirements for utility coordination on primary highway construction projects. Assisted local public agencies in reviewing and revising their Policy for Accommodating Utilities on the County and City Non-Primary Federal-Aid Road System.

I acted as a steward for the public's assets through leasing, managing and disposing of properties acquired by the Iowa Department of Transportation for construction purposes ensuring compliance with state, federal regulations pertaining to themanagement of the department's property including leasing and disposal of excess land. I also assisted and monitored local public agencies with right of way activities to ensure federal funding is not jeopardized.

Prepared Title & Closing papers for Right of Way Agents including Warranty Deeds, Easements, Transfer of Jurisdictions.

Support for the Radiological Health Office including preparation of documents, filing and record keeping of continuing education records for various professions in the Radiological Health Field. Was responsible for the Radon Hotline answering questions and providing information to callers. Created and maintained a tracking system for Radiological Health certification.

Built curriculum and taught art to boys ages 11-18 at an open campus correctional facility in Queen Creek, Arizona. Acted as a mentor to a group of boys assigned to a specific cottage. Volunteered to assist with the Boys Choir signing and chaperoning at events held off campus.

Prepared graphic materials for printing and presentation for various offices throughout the department. Utilized desktop graphic design software and prepared some hand drawn graphics. Performed supporting duties such as laminating, matting, dry mounting, photo preparation, calligraphy and drawing.

Prepared right of way design plans for primary highway construction projects. Most plans were hand drawn on Mylar. Selected plans were completed utilizing Unix-based CAD software.

Support for Right of Way Design Section including Office Director, Design Technicians and Agreements Specialists. Prepared correspondence, reports, vouchers, and maintained acquisition and other right of way records for the department's Production Schedule for primary road improvement projects.
