My clients value the unique skill set that I offer. I am a registered professional engineer in Minnesota and a freelance technical editor and writer. My unusual blend of project management skills, technical know-how, government involvement, journalism experience, editing prowess, and literary interests allows me to edit engineering reports, interview technical staff, write stories for trade magazines, review a Ph.D. dissertation, and prepare press releases for the media — all in the same week. In 2018, I provided technical editing services for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)–Minnesota Section’s very first Infrastructure Report Card. I also helped the Minnesota Section update its Report Card for 2022. In early 2019, I edited Washington State ASCE–Seattle Section’s Infrastructure Report Card. (“You have a detailed eye for the work,” one of my clients noted, “which shows in the quality of the document. You know very well all the work that went into this Report Card, and it would not have been possible without you.”)For other clients, I have written articles for technical trade journals and content for corporate newsletters. I regularly copy edit newspaper articles and technical papers and have edited books and software user manuals. Other writing assignments have included website news pieces about my engineering clients’ technical projects and achievements.
