I love maps. I love math. So it is no surprise that GIS is my passion. It is the perfect combination of maps and math, and it has been fascinating using GIS to analyse issues, solve problems, or even predict outcomes, with an added spatial perspective. To me, it doesn't matter what we're looking at, whether it's:- Social Issues (e.g. my research into the accessibility of healthcare for Singaporean elderly that I eventually published in an international research journal), or - Routing Solutions (e.g. my project on the applications of 2D and 3D GIS for indoor navigation), - Urban Planning (e.g. supporting the planning of educational sites in Singapore), or even - Environmental Issues (e.g. designing and implementing geospatial solutions for agriculture and carbon projects).I enjoy both the comfort/familiarity of the GIS tools that I know like the back of my hand, and the challenge of applying them in various contexts. More than that, I enjoy thinking about and sharing how GIS and remote sensing can be used to enhance existing processes, which is what I currently do. And the best part is, it’s my job to interact with beautiful maps and satellite imagery in the process :)
