  • Google
    Telephony Tech Lead
    Google Aug 2020 - Feb 2023
    Mountain View, California, United States
Leading triaging Google Fi platform from telephony perspective, which includes IMS call flow analysis, Switching between carrier analysis etc. Google Fi is a MVNO providing wireless services to a wide range of wireless devices, such as Pixel, iPhone, many Samsung & Motorola devices. This platform switches between subscription profiles, with pSIM & eSIMs via different carrier networks, to get the best service & connectivity for the device. My responsibility is to analyze the bugs, find root causes & solutions. Since Google Fi is a relatively new platform, often we need to be innovative to find the patterns and best solutions through the process. The Fi platform interacts with the 5G core of T-Mobile (including Sprint now) and US Cellular networks, where triaging involves the flow through 5G Core elements AMF, SMF, UPF, NEF etc. Google Fi started supporting 5G NR platform with and without the support of LTE platform Core & RAN elements, following different 5G-LTE-3G combination strategies, including different backhaul strategies to support WiFi network use cases. Fi also supports 5G-NR services, such as Slicing, mMIMO, mMTC, uRLLC etc., as well as ZigBee supported devices & connections, in order to ensure low coverage with low battery power use cases in WPAN network. As a Tech Lead, my responsibility is to triage issues from internal QA team & customers, through an in-depth analysis, involving different 5G usages, and proposing changes needed to the development team.

This company gained the customer base from 250 to 700+ in just 3-4 years. I’m responsible for analyzing the customer requirements, sales & marketing, designing the physical layer network, creating quotes, negotiating & invoicing. I have 2 FTE & few part-time 1099 contractors for the day-to-day cabling & installation jobs at customer facilities.I sold the business in 2021 September. By running this company, I gained a valuable experience of handling all the challenges of managing a small business all by myself, which includes managing a team to deliver each project on time, within budget, gaining customer satisfaction, and creating a brand.
