Debayan has over 9 years of post qualification experience in the social development sector and academic research working in different aspiring locations of West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. He completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. During Master degree, he interned with two grass root level nonprofit organizations, namely Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra, in Jharkhand under Child Centric Community Development programme of Plan International (India) and ASSEFA, Bihar. During Graduation, Debayan also got opportunity to understand Indian rural demographic dynamics through village fieldwork placement for consecutive two years. After completion of Master Degree, Debayan got opportunity to work with Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), where he worked in the Empowerment of NGOs in West Bengal project of Bread for the World, Germany as Programme Associate where he was responsible for Programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of 21 NGOs throughout the West Bengal. Training and capacity building of partner NGOs were also integral responsibility of Him. Through working with grass root organizations and interacting with deprived and marginalized people, Debayan internalized the need of Education for sustainable development of people, society as well as country at large. Therefore he opted for Fellowship programme with Azim Premji Foundation and succefullyy completed the Fellowship Programme in December 2016, and joined Azim Premji Foundation as Resource Person, Social Science where he rigorously got direct exposure of teachers education system. Reading, writing and attending workshops related to educational perspective development was integral part. He has worked with Oxfam India as a Project Officer, looking after a Project funded by European Union where the main objective of the project is to capacity building of 10 NGOs run by marginalized communities on the issues of Forest Rights and Right to Education along with institution development. He is presently a SRF scholar at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan exploring Impacts of Social Cohesion on Human and Social Development and it’s contribution towards Nation Building.
