Children'S CounsellorVernon Family Resource Centre Oct 2013 - Mar 2014The People Place, Vernon BcI started my term position at the Vernon Family Resource Centre in October 2013, when I was hired to do psychoeducational work as a part of the Child Sexual Abuse Intervention Program. While at the Centre, I became part of the Children's Team of counsellors; a dynamic, dedicated group of women that I was grateful to work with! I also enjoyed creating and maintaining a Facebook page for the Society, working collaboratively with my SAIP co-worker to create and present a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention workshop, creating a "Social Media 101" Training workshop for parents, and helping to organize a workshop fundraiser for April. Though my time at the Resource Centre was brief due to my term position, I was grateful to practice my counselling techniques, learn from experienced counsellors and be a part of an incredible organization and community!• Prepare, organize and facilitate workshops and curriculum; including psychoeducational lessons• Create and run a social media campaign to raise non-profit awareness and community engagement• Ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with agency staff, clients and community members, as well as build a strong therapeutic alliance with counselling clients• Professional behaviour, strong work ethic and ability to respect confidentiality• Professional collaboration with counsellors, teachers and community professionals to assess and meet specific clients needs or concerns• Detailed case file management
