Produce accurate, informative and timely financial statements for management and corporate office through effective control of general ledger input. Responsible for factual reporting of all financial results for presentation to the stockholders of Apollo Gold Corp. Ensure that Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures and SOX regulations are followed. Co-ordinate development of annual budgets, mid year reforecast, and monitors performance variances. Determine preliminary contract values for lead and zinc concentrates shipped to Cominco, BC, and gold and silver Dore to Johnson Matthey based on the mine's weights and assays. Calculations include metal deductions, penalties, treatment charges and net metal values. Recalculate on final settle parameters and reconcile to smelter amounts. Insure all metals produced by the mill are accounted for. Calculate total sales for Montana Tunnels for the month and year-to-date. Create spreadsheets, graphs, and charts using Excel.Review and approve output from the Payroll and Warehouse Departments. Responsible for all payroll-related tax deposits, preparation of all quarterly payroll tax returns. Process W-2s. Stay abreast of changes in taxation and tax reporting, human resources (including benefits). Interface with other systems within the company.Supervise the Accounts Payable department. Check the accuracy of disbursements and receivables through close scrutiny of coding and amounts on source documents. Audit and authorize travel reimbursement payments. Act as backup for the HR Manager.

Responsible for processing multi-state hourly and salary payroll. Included new employee files and maintenance of employee personnel files. Responsible for requesting checks and preparing deposits to transfer funds into payroll bank accounts. Prepare various state (Montana; and North Dakota) withholding returns, employment insurance forms, sales tax returns, and industrial accident insurance payments. Responsible for payment of union dues and other withholdings, payments to retirees. Prepare monthly journal entries relating to payroll adjustments, accruals, and employee loan interest and payroll burden. Maintain the account status of each employee loan to the corporation. Responsible for issuing draws against the accounts as well as calculating interest on a monthly basis. Back up Order Entry desk.
