I work with 4-5 year olds to teach them the tools to become successful as they get ready to enter kindergarten. I work with up to 18 children a day and we work on all aspects of learning from academics to self help skills. I adapt well to change and I stand up and advocate for children when needed.

During my time at Xplor I have grown as a teacher. Coming in to this country and finding a teaching position was difficult but at Xplor's I was given the chance to become a better teacher. I began as an assistant teacher; aiding the lead in day to day activities but within two months was promoted to a lead position in their Pre-K classroom. I was in charge of the running of the class. All classes are important but with this class being a step in to Kindergarten it was important to make sure the children are equipped and ready for their next journey. I would do lesson plans, weekly assessments and follow the links to learning curriculum. I have a close relationship with parents also and enable them to communicate with me whenever they have a question or concern. It is a job that I take very seriously and I enjoy watching as the children learn new skills and achieve new goals.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

I take in stock on delivery days and set it out in a presentable manner in the store. I work with the public, making sure they are top priority. I call other stores and talk to guests, trying to find the perfect item for them. I use registers and checkout guests when they are ready to leave.

Galston, East Ayrshire

I took care of children age 0-5. I motivated them to develop in many areas and I aided them in stimulating their learning abilities. I had a group of children in the AM session and the PM session (10 in each session) who they identified me as their key worker. I not only worked with the children in the setting, I worked with the other staff members, outside parties such as health visitors, dental health specialists, mental health specialists and hearing impaired specialists and the parents of the children also. I updated children personal development plans and assisted them in their learning. I had the opportunity to work with children who had additional support needs such as hearing and vision impairments, autism and other conditions that are based off of the autistic spectrum and many allergies. I ensured that the safety of the children was key and through play I helped them accomplish new goals.

Crosshouse Hospital

I volunteered as a play worker in the pediatrics ward. I helped the children through tough treatment and diagnosis with games and activities to make the hospital seem less scary. After eight months of volunteering I was offered a position in which I talk with parents about different treatments offered, the prices of those and respite care they could look in to. I worked three days a week and was given the opportunity to see how a hospital ran and all the different avenues I could explore.

Kilwinning

My role as an Out of School Practitioner was to provide a safe and nurturing environment for 4-12 year old's on a daily basis. I delivered a range of exciting activities to stimulate their minds and provide a place where they can relax and unwind after school. I prepared healthy and fun snacks for them and ensured that their health and safety requirements were always met. I help develop their physical, social, emotional and language skills to help further them in school and on occasion I was able to take the children out into the community to gain more knowledge through more unique experiences. I also sometimes to the opportunity to work over in the prep school (3- 5 year old's) and the toddlers room (2-3 years old's) of the facility.

I learned though working in a nursery for four days, for a year and a half how a nursery runs, what duties are done and how to work as a team and individually. I learned all about the running of a nursery and what the role of a practitioner is. I gained more confidence and became more independent. As part of my training every Monday for a year and a half I learned the theory behind the job. I also learning how to file and put children’s achievements into their personal development plans.

Working in a retail environment I was building and selling the products that were on sale to the public. I gave the customers a great knowledge of the products on sale and used my communication skills to ensure they were satisfied with what they were buying. Taking stock and replenishing the stock out on the shop floor was one of the main tasks as at all times you want to ensure the shop floor looks presentable and enticing to the guests.I have a great a passion for the products I was selling. I also worked with all members of the public, marketing the products and bringing attention to them in a fun and exciting way. Ensuring the customer was engaged in the bear making process and talking to them throughout the whole thing as well as coming across as kind, well-mannered and polite.

Teaching dance to children aged 7 to 17. Through this I taught them new styles of dancing such as ballet, hip-hop, jazz, cheer, acrobatic, tap and majorette and by teaching them I developed the children's confidence and self-esteem. I provided children with care and their basic needs,positive play opportunities and the freedom to just be children on a daily basis. Due to the fact it was a sleep away camp I was caring for the children 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 3 months. Dressing up and making sure the children had the best summer experience possible. It was my job to ensure that the children felt safe despite being away from home for 3 months and that they had a good time and enjoyed all of the activities the camp had to offer. It also gave the children a cultural experience by meeting someone from a different country and I was able to tell them about where I was from and capture their imagination with my stories and photos.

I worked with children, entertaining them through the day and in the evening. I arranged activities and worked with the public on a daily basis. I dressed up as Haven’s trademark characters and performed in said outfits. I also helped with the adult entertainment at night. I performed in dance acts and helped with activities such as bingo, games and quizzes. I worked well under the pressures that came with the job. The biggest part of the job was making sure the customer always felt welcomed, engaged and that their satisfaction was gained through the job you were doing. It was about making their holiday special.
