I am also a Director of the Ashtons Legal Trust Corporation Limited and act as Deputy on the behalf of our Clients. In addition to my management responsibilities within the team I act for Clients who have acquired a brain injury as a result of a personal injury or clinical negligence claim and I assist these Clients through both their litigation claim, post settlement and throughout their lives in respect of all financial matters including purchasing and adapting suitable properties, employment care teams, and the investment of damages to ensure longevity of any funds throughout their life time. . During the course of their litigation claim I can provide details of expenditure incurred to their litigation Solicitors, detailed budgets in relation to expenditure needs for now and future needs in order to assist in identifying when further interim payments need to be obtained. I am also able to provide witness statements in relation to Court of Protection costs in order to assist in quantifying litigation damages. In addition to acting for Clients who have acquired a brain injury as a result of a personal injury or clinical negligence claim we also act for elderly Clients who have acquired a brain injury as a result of age related diseases/illnesses. My team are able to deal with both the application to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Professional or Lay Deputy but also with the ongoing management of the persons financial affairs, however small or large. After working as a Case Worker within the Court of Protection Team I progressed to being appointed as a Senior Case Worker. In addition to dealing the the application process in appointing a lay or professional deputy on behalf of Clients who did not have the mental capacity to manage their own affairs I also took on additional responsibilities within the team.

I joined the Court of Protection team at Kester Cunningham John in October 2005 and began to learn about the Court of Protection and its role in managing the financial affairs of people who no longer had the mental capacity to deal with their own financial affairs.
