As an attorney and mediator, I concentrate on resolving land and water disputes. Grounded by my science background and experience working in natural resource management, I handle technically and legally complex matters before administrative agencies and the courts. This includes land use and environmental permitting, negotiations, litigation and appeals. My appellate expertise consists of thoughtful strategy development, comprehensive legal research, incisive brief writing and persuasive oral advocacy. Having served as editor of the Nevada Appellate Practice Manual and authored the chapter on administrative appeals, I have comprehensive knowledge of appellate law and procedure. I also served as Chair of the Nevada State Bar’s Appellate Litigation Section. As a mediator, I encourage productive dialogue between adversarial parties to develop creative resolutions to conflict. By neutrally evaluating the parties’ respective legal positions, I help them weigh the risks of continued litigation against the settlement proposals before them. I am a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge and a volunteer mediator and arbitrator on the Nevada State Bar Fee Dispute Resolution Panel. With my substantive knowledge of water and land use law, I particularly enjoy helping parties resolve complex natural resource disputes.
