Worked collaboratively to support strategic initiatives and elevate the reputation of the college and the MUSC enterprise to all relevant audiences, both internal and external. Created multi-media communication plans, supporting collateral and storytelling for initiatives including the college’s first scholarship campaign (goal reached and extended), the CASE Bioskills Lab (significant donations brought in following release of communication materials). Assisted IT director with grant writing resulting in funding for a Virtual Surgical Theater.Launched all of COM’s social media profiles and trained faculty and students in using social media to ensure understanding and adherence to guidelines and legal implications. Provided by the dean of the college to serve as first communications director for Epic during the ambulatory launch of the enterprise electronic health record. Was embedded into the project management team, and worked daily with the CMIO. Developed and implemented detailed communications plan, toolkit, and engagement strategy and debrief post go-live. Created new working groups and processes, including the Editorial Calendar Group, which facilitates connectivity between communicators across MUSC to improve connectivity in what was a highly decentralized environment.Co-chaired Media Training Workgroup. Co-wrote first media training curriculum with MUSC director of media relations and launched a self-serve training module. Advised and drafted proactive op-eds addressing issues important to the college including diversity and the veterans affairs health care crisis.

As first PIO for the regional campus, built the communications office from the ground up. Served on the advancement team which built the university’s first brand architecture, created the school’s mascot, launched new academic programs, and raised awareness of legislative issues critical to our campuses. Created and managed the university’s first crisis communications plan and facilitated formal NIMS-compliant critical incident training including half-day simulated crisis event. Directed USCB’s entry into social media. Positioned the university and its faculty as a primary source of information and experts for new reporters, raised the visibility of USCB and executed an internal communications plan.

Producer at number one news station in the market. Wrote and determined content for several daily newscasts, pitched stories at daily editorial meetings and managed a team of reporters, anchors, videographers, and editors. Produced Emmy-nominated topical debate format program featuring local and and state government officials and leaders. Maintained number one ranking for its timeslot during the run of the show.
