About Deborah Batson
I wear and have worn many hats. I have 35 years of software development experience in many languages and on many platforms, in a variety of domains. Landing in health care informatics, I discovered a passion for the philosophy and ethics with which we conduct large research in this country. I am particularly interested in research data ethics, and in engaging researchers and the public in participating in clinical research. I serve on a multi-institutional review board and on a clinical ethics committee helping to educate people about the ethic issues involved in clinical care. I'm also interested in the ethical and regulatory hurdles faced by regional and national institutions around data sharing.Meanwhile, I work as a board-certified patient advocate, helping people with cancer and rare diseases navigate our complex healthcare system. I also have an art studio where I create custom cremation urns for families suffering the loss of a loved one.
