I am a Band 7 Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse working as part of a large multi disciplinary paediatric diabetes team. I work with children ranging from age 2 to 19 and their families and carers. I have extensive experience of the management of paediatric Diabetes including the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems. I am the lead paediatric diabetes specialist nurse for the North Somerset area with responsibility for the local caseload and service provision. I am the lead for education in the team covering a wide range of educational aspects including creation and management of the trust diabetes education module for staff. I am a member of the team technology team which incudes responsibility for all diabetes management devices offered by the team.I am also a qualified Non Medical Prescriber.

I work with children ranging from age 2 to 19 and their families and carers. I have extensive experience of the management of paediatric Diabetes including the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems. I am also a qualified Non Medical Prescriber.

In this role I worked in the community to offer Specialist sexual health and contraception advice as part of the local ‘No Worries! Confidential Teenage Health Service’. This included work in patient homes, schools and children’s centres as well as clinics. I was also the Outreach nurse supporting young woman and their partners faced with teenage pregnancy. This role included giving advice about options for the pregnancy and liaising with local services. I also provided follow contraception advice in order to prevent further unplanned pregnancies. In my post I worked under organisational patient group directives to give advice on and supply contraception and treatment for sexual health conditions.
