    The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) is the largest Secretariat in Massachusetts state government. It oversees expenditures of over $13.5 billion annually; it has approximately 22,000 employees; and it services 1.5 million clients. The 16 agencies of EOHHS provide services to promote health, safety, independence, and a high quality of life for individuals and families throughout the state.EOHHS agencies own and operate over 700 buildings on 35 campuses across the Commonwealth. The campuses are located on approximately 5,400 acres, and the buildings total over 9 million square feet. EOHHS-owned facilities include 4 public health hospitals, 2 psychiatric hospitals, 10 juvenile detention campuses, 11 mental health centers, and the state laboratory. EOHHS also owns Soldiers Homes in Chelsea and Holyoke, 2 campuses providing residential services to individuals with developmental disabilities, and over 100 group homes. In addition, EOHHS leases more than 150 offices and other properties, totaling more than 2 million square feet. The Director of Facilities manages a staff of 25 people, providing overall leadership, strategic direction, and management of these properties, both state-owned and leased. Responsibilities include capital and strategic planning, facilities leasing and planning, central building services, and shared services such as emergency preparedness.
