I coordinate the maternal mortality review process at the Washington State Department of Health, Office of Family and Community Health Improvement

I provide consultation, writing, grant content, and curriculum resources for public health, environmental justice, and related fields. I also write humor and essays. Op-ed contributor at Jewish Journal ("pundemic" correspondent). As a guest lecturer, I authored and introduced a problem-based learning (PBL) case about COVID-19, midwifery, health equity, and MCH, for Bastyr University Master's degree students in the Leadership in Maternal-Child Health course. Case title: "Emotional Labor: Birth and COVID-19: In a pandemic, when stakes and emotions run high, how can MCH leaders prepare for and respond to new birth recommendations—and their unintended consequences?"I also make impressionist collage art, using bits of paper from old copies of The New Yorker magazine to build fungi, birds, bees, butterflies and more. I sell cards and prints of my work on Etsy and in person.

Trained to deliver Upstream's training program at health centers across Washington State. Upstream Washington is a multi-year initiative launched by Upstream USA to ensure all patients have access to the full range of birth control methods in a single visit by providing training and technical assistance to health centers.

Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, at the University of Washington School of Public Health:I manage a maternal & child health (MCH)-focused leadership training program, write communications materials for the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP), including articles for Northwest Public Health magazine, and work on additional management and training activities for multiple projects.MCH Professionals Leadership Training Program and Northwest Public Health Leadership Institute:• Carry out MCH needs assessments and literature reviews• Develop curriculum with director and MCH advisory committee• Select faculty and regional public health leaders as presenters• Recruit scholars from throughout the MCH public health practice field • Review evaluations, and ensure • Ensure the institute focuses on health equity and the needs of MCH public health practice during a time of enormous transformation in the field. I write about issues and intersections of health, nutrition, food, equity, culture, and sustainability. I have written for sources including Northwest Public Health, Jewish in Seattle magazine, The New York Times food blog, Issues in Science and Technology, The Atlantic and Seattle Local Food. I have also conducted public health research-based writing projects and reviewed federal public health grants.

Contract position coordinating Food Day in partnership with organizations, local government, and community groups on the West Coast, focused on the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle.

Analyzed research on health issues like sugar-loaded beverages and wrote up research findings. Used writing, editing and outreach skills to determine effective strategies for addressing public health concerns.

As part of SOAR team, facilitated a King County coalition to determine what children and youth need to thrive. Wrote King County Action Agenda. Led trainings, wrote grants and curriculum, and worked collaboratively with key leaders in a range of nonprofit, school districts, local government, and foundation sectors.

Co-founded and co-directed Camp Ten Trees, the nation’s first non-profit camp for LGBTQ youth and children of LGBTQ families. Greater Seattle Business Association Non-Profit of the Year. Supervised, trained, and hired staff. Met community needs and industry standards. Presented at conferences.
