About Deborah May
I am a deep thinker and experienced and courageous practitioner who uses research and contemporary thinking to create awareness and understanding of our cultural conditioning, implicit biases and human proclivities to value some over others. With 25 years of experience, and insufficient change, it is time to change the paradigm that continues to perpetuate the status quo. Builds understanding of the cultural conditioning and implicit biases that inform who and what is valued, rewarded and privileged in the workplace.2. Generates self-awareness and commitment to ameliorating the impact of bias and repairing relationships.3. Heals and rebuilds confidence and esteem in those affected by bias and bullying.4. Engages the collective in healing and co-creating unified, inclusive and strength based working relationships.As Principal and Founder of The May Group and Principal at Nous I worked with many clients to advance gender equity and cultivate inclusion. These included Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Victorian Transport Accident Commission, Department of Defence, The Treasury, Geoscience Australia, IBM, ACCC, Kellogg’s, Swinburne University, and the Australian National University. I am an Honorary Fellow of University of Canberra for my research and advocacy on gender equity and unconscious bias in the public sector, a frequent speaker at conferences and have a lived a full and interesting life.
