I plan, market, and execute seminars, symposiums, conferences and smaller events for the sciences as well as for the Wellesley College Science Center, located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. I work with faculty, campus administrators, students, and Facilities personnel, as well as with suppliers, restaurateurs, and caterers, negotiating the cost of and procuring the required goods and services needed to facilitate the successful outcomes of programs and events for groups of ten to more than three hundred people. Working for nine academic departments and programs as well as for a major college academic center also requires that I schedule or approve non-academic spaces in the facility; coordinate with the Provost’s Office, Public Affairs, and Media Services offices, as well as other major players who create, promote, and bring wonderful programming to both the college community and to our home town and surrounding communities; hire and manage student workers; and market these programs on campus (the latter making room for creative expression, which I truly enjoy.) Occasionally, too, I find myself fundraising to insure what’s needed to make an event run smoothly is available. Working with a number of distinct constituencies and having to meet and exceed their needs to be successful, guarantees a variety of experiences – all positive and all offering opportunities to learn and to grow personally and professionally.
