My most recent work history had been as CEO/Executive Director, but after meeting with the owner of this facility and hearing her story, I decided that I would take a reduced income in order to help her fix the operations of the billing office. My goal was an attempt to help the organization and perhaps make a difference in the lives of the patients who come to this facility with serious eating disorders.When I started the job, most of the accounts receivable were in the 120+ days and older category and there were some serious issues with regard to claims processing with insurance payers. Even though I had never worked in behavioral health, I worked hard to understand the billing protocols and then analyzed the accounts receivable and began to work with payers to correct the system issues.Within six months, the collections had improved significantly and now after a year in the position, an average of 94% to 97% of accounts are in the current to 60 day category; the accounts receivables have been reduced by over half and our collections average is 127% over last year's.Additionally, I have created multiple financial reports to track the receivables on daily, weekly and monthly basis. This includes a personally developed cash flow projection report to assist financial decisions and growth projects.I've negotiated lucrative National contracts with payers creating a new revenue stream which allows us to treat out of state patients who come to Massachusetts for care.

As the Practice Administrator, I took this position with the physician owner in order to grow his practice as he prepared for retirement. I was responsible for the management of all staff and providers, including hands-on participation in all day-to-day operations.

My responsibilities included all aspects of managing a series of dermatology clinics and cosmetic dermatology medical spas, including business plan analysis, growth initiatives, researching & overseeing the addition of new locations and staff hiring & separation. I took the organization’s gross income from $3 million to over $12 million in 3 years.
