Deborah Murphy founded Los Angeles Walks in 1998 and has worked with friends over the years to consistently bring attention the role of walking in the City of Los Angeles. Her background in innovative urban design has helped improve LA’s public landscape and foster a more livable city. In the fall of 2011, Alexis Lantz, Jessica Meaney, Colleen Corcoran, Alissa Walker, and Michelle Craven all joined Deborah under the fiscal umbrella of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition for a new and unified grassroots effort to support walking in LA. Our Vision for Los Angeles: LA is a vibrant city in which people can and do walk regularly for transportation, exercise, or fun. Policymakers and residents value walking as a valuable form oftransportation, and Angelenos of all ages, ethnicities, incomes, and abilities are able to walk or move safely through their neighborhoods.
