Debra Noble has had a thirty-year career as a dancer, choreographer, company director and educator. She has performed with companies in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, including appearances with the American Repertory Dance Company and with the Limón Dance Company. In her continuing performing career, Ms. Noble has had the pleasure of performing as a soloist throughout the United States, Central America, and Europe with performances reviewed as “…touching … stunningly danced…” by the Los Angeles Times and “Watching Noble perform is sheer ecstasy” The Herald, New York. Ms. Noble’s Solo Voices toured widely in the Americas and Europe, with recent performances prompting descriptions on NPR as being “Majestic and elegiac” and a “striking dancer who has clearly mastered less being more” and in Dance Magazine as a performer with “authority and restraint”. Ms. Noble has choreographed widely, and, for a decade, directed her own company, In Forward Motion, drawing extended support from the New York State Council on the Arts. Her choreography has been presented by such venues as Lincoln Center, France’s Avignon International Arts Festival and at the Gran Teatro Centro Cultural in Guatemala City. Ms. Noble’s choreography has been praised as being “Inspiring, striking…powerful” by The Daily Gazette of Albany and “evocative . . . full of sublime and subtle energy”, by the Woodstock Times. In 2004 she founded (along with Colin Connor), the Connor/Noble Dance Company, which has performed in the U.S., Guatemala, Mexico and Europe. Presently a Professor and Director of Dance and at California State University, Fullerton, Ms. Noble is also serving as Vice Chair of the Theatre and Dance Department. She has been on faculty at Bard College and State University of New York at New Paltz. She has also guest taught at many other training centers, including The Limón Institute of New York City, the California Institute of the Arts, Ballet Moderno y Folklorico de Guatemala, Pasadena Dance Theatre, Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C., Canadian Dance Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, and the University of Veracruz in Mexico. Ms. Noble has created and directed CSUF’s Dance Repertory and Performance, bringing in guest artists from across the U.S. and Canada to teach set works on the dance students. In 2007 Ms. Noble brought to the CSUF campus The Limón West Coast Summer Workshop. This exciting annual summer dance intensive, has brought together students from across the U.S., Japan, Italy and Great Britain.
