I am an LCSW-R Psychotherapist in Private Practice, with a philosophy that includes the importance of laughter in our lives. It is vital to our well-being to be able to laugh in the face of adversity. I specialize in providing Laughter Yoga Stress Management groups, and supportive group counseling for both individuals diagnosed with Brain Injury, and their families/caregivers/loved ones. Laughter Yoga is a unique, breakthrough exercise routine developed by Indian physician, Dr. Madan Kataria, in 1995. He found that , anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as an exercise in a group, but with eye contact and childlike playfulness, and, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The benefits of Laughter Yoga include: reducing stress hormones, promoting cardiovascular health, increasing production of endorphins (feel-good hormones and a natural pain killer), improves energy and focus, and helping to strengthen the immune system.
