My experience as a medical claims processor has given me the opportunity to learn about medical insurance policies. I have over 7 years of processing experience. I was obtaining my undergrad degree during this time. I want to do more on the business side to healthcare. I received my diploma in 2022 in Business and Healthcare Management. I enjoy being innovative in and outside of work. I keep doing this because I believe that I am making an impact with each claim that I process. When claims are incorrectly process Medical Professionals are not being paid correctly and incorrect payments affect the members of the insurance provider. I am also the Engagement Lead in the Mental Wellness Employee Resource Group (ERG). I create opportunities to help de-stigmatize the taboos around mental health. I have created a trivia game that highlighted the common misconceptions around illnesses such as ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, and more. I shared fun facts about these conditions to provide information to those who either face these challenges or know someone who does. Most of my career journey didn’t really change until when Covid occurred. I started learning more about myself and what I wanted for myself in my career. I learned what my needs were after I started working from home which Covid provided for me. This was the first time I’d started working remotely. I was also an online student at the time and I had more than one role model. I had created a support network for myself. I have completed my undergrad degree and have taken relevant courses such as Project Management, Spreadsheets, Healthcare Management and Strategy, and more. I have also completed a few LinkedIn courses such as Excel, Understanding and Supporting ADHD Colleagues in the Workplace, and more.I’m looking to get into a role that allows me grow a group of individuals to be supportive and innovative with each other. I’m looking for a role that supports the importance of mental health as this is important to me.
