About Debra Lam

With two brothers on the Autism spectrum, Debra has deep compassion for marginalised communities and the complexities they face. In the pursuit to shift towards more empowering narratives around disability, she started a ground up initiative by training a competitive Deaf dragon boat team. Subsequently, she co-founded a social enterprise, focused on designing methodologies and platforms to engage disability. Spending almost a decade in the social and community building sector brought a wide range of experience spanning curriculum and experience design, community organising, and working with diversity.Currently, she is an organisational development practitioner, looking at organisational health and resilience across the social, government and private sector. She also designs Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies and programmes for foreign-local integration. Through her work, she supports people and organisations in building more inclusive societies through greater awareness and finding new ways forward. On the community front, Debra co-developed Diversity by Default, a diversity based expansion pack of Smol Tok to elicit meaningful conversations about our differences. She is also the 2021-2023 Singapore national youth delegate to the Commonwealth Youth Council and sits on the Philip Yeo Initiative Steering Committee.
