Successfully studied towards a HNC in Nautical Science as part of the Deck Officer Trainee program, which lasted 3 years over 5 phases and were split between college studies and time spent at sea. The college phase delivered the theoretical knowledge and the time at sea was spent understudying an Officer of the Watch whilst completing a training record book of practical tasks associated with the duties of an Officer of the Watch. As a Deck Officer Trainee it was my responsibility to manage my own training program while at sea.
