As General Manager of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra (RTÉ NSO ) of Ireland, I was responsible for the financial, operational and artistic management of Ireland's national symphony orchestra.I programmed the 13/14 concert season and planned the 14/15 season; introduced the RTÉ NSO Summer Music Festival (including The President's Concert and Lyric FM Hall of Fame); formed new artistic partnerships (e.g. Shakespeare in Music with the Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s National theater); re-established the orchestra's recordings with Naxos (including two critically acclaimed CDs of works by Dukas and Bizet conducted by Jean-Luc Tingaud); commissioned new works (including Free Falling by Ed Bennett to open the 13/14 season); refreshed Horizons, the orchestra's contemporary music series; invited Sir Harrison Birtwistle as special guest for the RTÉ NSO's New Music Dublin concert in 2014; developed new education initiatives (including Charles Hazlewood's 'Close Up' series in conjunction with the National Concert Hall); built business sponsorship initiatives (including a showcase event for the RTÉ NSO at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner); and increased audiences through promotional 'taster' concerts and events, website videos, and a promotional CD in the Sunday Business Post featuring highlights from the 13/14 season.

Production responsibilities included the establishment, production supervision and artistic development of events such as 'Proms in the Park' (live open-air TV broadcast featuring the Ulster Orchestra), the annual St. Patrick's Day concert (in association with Belfast City Council), overseeing special events such as BBC Radio Ulster's 30th anniversary open-air festival and producing radio and TV commissions: 'Bernstein in Belfast' and 'The Chieftains' for BBC4; Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's Classical World for BBC Radio 2; 'Sounding The City' (Belfast Festival Anniversary Concert for BBC NI TV).

I worked with Northern Ireland's symphony orchestra for over fourteen years, starting out as producer of the orchestra's concerts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Ulster (selecting artists and repertoire, scheduling concert seasons and staging broadcast events), then becoming the BBC designated member of the orchestra's board (serving as Deputy Chairman for three years), and finally being appointed Chief Executive 2011/12 (on secondment from the BBC). As Chief Executive I was responsible for the financial, artistic, personnel and operational management of the orchestra. During my tenure I developed new sponsors for the orchestra and established a partnership with the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce, introduced new concert formats (such as the annual Burns Night concert), developed the orchestra's impact on audiences ('taster' concerts, promotional CDs and videos), appointed a new principal conductor and co-leader, negotiated a revised contract with the players, increased CD recordings, scheduled the orchestra's 2011/12 season of concerts and planned the 12/13 season, coordinated governance and board member changes, developed a three year business plan and wrote the orchestra's creative industries development paper for the Dept. of Culture Arts and Leisure.
