As a graduate student in the '90's I witnessed a website for the first time - I experienced some pages published by CERN on an early version of the now defunct Mosaic browser.Wow!I was hooked. The content was not that interesting, but the power of this new medium and the potential application of HyperText as a mechanism for information distribution was excitingly apparent. In my academic career I used this new medium to publicise my work, which helped create the opportunity that allowed me to study for an MBA and thereafter join the IT revolution and the .com boom, and spend my second career working with Digital Product Innovation at chello/ChelloMedia.At the end of 2006 I needed a break from life at the bleeding edge and found a position at Norfolkline. I knew how to run Digitally enabled businesses, and they needed this expertise. It was a good match, and we had a lot of success in Digitally enabling Norfolkline. When DFDS acquired Norfolkline in 2010 I helped establish the new organisation, bringing all the Passenger businesses together under one brand, and creating an operating model and organisational design for product distribution. In 2015 I took on the next challenge as Digital Officer, a role where I put in place an organisation that delivered Product Ownership, and together with IT colleagues implemented leaner Product and Software Development practices to accelerate the Digitization of our business. In September 2017 this role was expanded to that of Business Development & Strategy Director and Digital & IT Officer; a leadership role in driving the Digital Transformation of the DFDS Passenger business.
