Dee Baecher-Brown Email and Phone Number
I have had the privilege of serving as President of the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands since April of 1996. In this role, I work closely with local and national donors and businesses, as well as the extensive network of nonprofits in the U.S. Virgin Islands, to address important issues affecting our Territory. My focus has always been on prioritizing programs and services that enrich the quality of life on our islands, with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our most vulnerable residents.Under my leadership, the Foundation has made a significant impact, providing more than $52 million in grants, scholarships, and services to our beloved territory. I am proud to share that CFVI's assets have grown substantially, starting from an initial donation of $540,000 and reaching more than $18 million by December 2020. Notably, membership in the CFVI Angel donor's program has flourished and is now the largest philanthropic network in the U.S. Virgin Islands. My current professional and civic engagements include serving on the USVI Governor's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee, as well as being a part of the governing board of the Federal Regional Education Laboratory – Northeast and Islands (REL-NEI). I also contribute my expertise to the University of the Virgin Islands as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council and actively participate in the St. Croix and St. Thomas/St. John Chambers of Commerce. Before I made the Virgin Islands my home, I served as the Director of Volunteer Services at the Isabella Geriatric Center in New York City. My career has been enriched with extensive experience in youth development and education, including leadership positions in New York City with the National Services Corporation's City Volunteer Corps and the Academy for Educational Development. My educational background includes an MBA from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at The Johns Hopkins University, a bachelor's degree from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY, and a certificate in management of nonprofit organizations from New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Additionally, I had the privilege of being an Educational Policy Fellow at the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C
