Chief Scientist: Dr. Tim Henstock of the National Oceanography Centre at Southampton University (NOCS).2009: Seeking calm after some bruising years, I pick up a childhood passion - geology - and start a Master’s at NOCS. 2010: I grab Tim Henstock's dissertation project - studying segmentation of the megathrust offshore Sumatra. The dataset is revelatory. Seismic sections are confusing. BUT other features are stunning – giant submarine landslides; a major strike slip fault. Beyond my brief, but seductively intriguing.
