I was in charge of opening the clinic and taking admissions and preparing them for surgery. During surgery I would assist the Veterinarian with getting the animal intubated. Whilst in surgery I would monitor the anaesthesia, fluids, and vital signs. I was also assisting with procedures such as IV insertion, x-rays, and medication. As well as patient care, I was also doing administrative tasks such as booking and managing appointments, answering phones and emails, following up with blood work. I would do daily stocktake and ordering stock for the clinic.

Working with families of extremely preterm or unwell neonates to support them with growth and healing. I would support families during difficult times and help give them education and insight about the journey that they and their baby are about to go on. Also providing education on essentials to ensure safety at home. As a senior nurse, I would care for the sickest babies on the unit needing breathing support, complex medications and developmental care specific to their needs. I would have to liaise with many others from the healthcare team to ensure the neonate and family are getting the right care.From time to time, I would be in charge of the unit and have to allocate staff, coordinate admissions of new babies, organise transports of babies between healthcare facilities and ensure the team was well supported during the shift.

I would administer medication, do wound dressings, check medical status of patients and liaise with the medical team to ensure patients got the care they needed. I would also support students during their placements and give them education and help them develop their skills and critical thinking.

Worked part-time in a community where the residents were people with mental disabilities and provided them care and support in day to day activities. Created an environment of learning and independence where each resident was cared for in a way that was specific to their needs. A lot of the residents were non-verbal so communication my skills were developed by having to find different ways to understand what the residents wanted and I gained intuition and insight on different forms of communication.

I would create nutritious after school snacks, assist with homework, and create interactive and education activities for the appropriate age of the children.
