This position enhanced my understanding of Civil Engineering through many real-world projects. I was able to effectively apply my academic knowledge to achieve this both independently and in a team. A snapshot of some projects I've worked on are listed below.University of Toronto (New Science Building) Gate Post - Assisted team in designing top and bottom connections of an HSS steel post and its ability to support a swinging gate.Wind Load Deflection Beam (Expansion Project)- Assisted team in connection design for steel beam between a wooden column and concrete slab.Joist & Roof Deck Load Adequacy Checks - Project involved the installation of solar panels along a roof supported by OWSJ's.- Checked if the roof deck and joist were structurally adequate with the imposed loads.- The roof deck and joists were analyzed separately with help of SAP2000, C-Beam and NBCC.- Roof deck was checked for stress and deflection, while the joists were checked for individual member stress, bending stress and deflection.Speed Wall Weight Calculator- Created a spreadsheet to easily calculate the weight of a speed wall assembly on site.- Spreadsheet incorporated the exclusion of window cutouts and glass weight of window systems for an accurate weight. Company Database- Ongoing project throughout internship.- Utilized the company Wiki to organize a database of architectural products by material/configuration type, their use in Flynn projects, product manufacturers and distributors.

- Selected an occupiable building site within Canada to construct to build an apartment complex with the emphasis on offsite fabrication.- Modelled the apartment complex as well as its interior structural components using Civil 3D and AutoCAD respectively.

- Utilized creativity to plan and design a suspension bridge using Fusion 360.- Led the team on choosing appropriate structural materials as well as calculating theoretical loads using problem-solving and analytical skills.- Constructed a report highlighting design choices, materials used, and factor of safety.
