Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams is a respected public art curator and cultural planner based in Washington, D.C. with a background in managing large-scale public art projects, she has been instrumental in shaping the region’s cultural landscape through creative placemaking and community engagement.Deirdre is known for her ability to navigate complex processes and her dedication to showcasing local and international artists in ways that resonate with diverse audiences. She has collaborated with various public and private organizations, including Arlington Arts, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, where she oversaw the implementation of significant art initiatives and sculpture exhibitions. Currently, Deirdre is actively involved in public art projects and creative activations in the Golden Triangle neighborhood, focusing on immersive, high-impact public art installations. Deirdre holds a BA in Art History from George Washington University and an MA in Art Market Studies from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She currently serves as co-chair of the board of the Washington Project for the Arts. Originally from Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Deirdre now resides on Capitol Hill, D.C., with her husband, son, and their frisky Pitbull mix.
