Als docent binnen de minor 'Spaces of Display' begeleid ik studenten in het ontwerpen en presenteren van innovatieve tentoonstellingsruimtes. Door middel van hands-on projecten leren studenten niet alleen over ruimtelijke vormgeving, maar ook over storytelling en de interactie tussen objecten en bezoekers. Ik stimuleer hen om kritisch na te denken over concepten zoals duurzaamheid, materialiteit en gebruiksvriendelijkheid, zodat hun ontwerpen zowel praktisch als creatief van hoge kwaliteit zijn.

Dit kan op korte termijn in de vorm van een workshop, presentatie of brainstorm sessie. Op de lange termijn kan er ook een volledige implementatie gedaan worden. Teaching:Managing Science and Technology in Society: This course offers an advanced introduction to the academic field of ‘Science Technology & Society Studies’, as part of the second year of the master ‘Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship for the Health and Life Sciences’.Science Museology: This course is about designing an exhibit for a science museum. The students get familiar with theories of science communication in museum settings and different approaches to exhibit design & development, science communication in museum contexts, and qualitative (user) research.Biomedical Sciences and Society: In this course, we study the relationships between science, technology, and society. The course studies past, contemporary and future technological developments and their ethical and societal implications.Communication and Innovation in Health and Life Sciences (Honours course): This course focuses on the question of how to realize the ambitious goals of science and technology in our modern knowledge and risk society, and how to critically analyse the pitfalls.Uitdagingen in duurzame gezondheid en zorg: Dit vak gaat over de relatie tussen duurzaamheid en gezondheid. Enerzijds wordt er kennis gemaakt met “duurzame gezondheid”: de samenhang tussen de menselijke gezondheid en de gezondheid van de omgeving waarin we leven. Anderzijds wordt “duurzame zorg” behandeld. Dan hebben we het over betaalbare zorg van hoge kwaliteit, toegankelijk voor iedereen, en met minimale ecologische impact.

I am responsible for enhancing the inclusivity and accessibility at Naturalis. Mainly focussing on special education need (SEN) students. My task is to implement the findings from my master thesis, which entails mapping the needs and wishes of SEN schools towards visiting Naturalis, and translating these findings into concrete tweaks and tools. This already resulted in additional services and programmes for SEN students and disabled people in general. However, it is important that all programmes are inclusive and when a separate programme is required it should be an equal alternative. Next to this, I educate and raise awareness on this subject amongst the staff of Naturalis through listening, talking and training. Making a museum fully accessible and inclusive will always stay a work in progress.

Department of Immunobiology. Developed varius assays for neutrophills and their functions. And how those functions play their part in multiple sclerosis (MS).

Internal medicine / Neuro-endocrinology. Compared DNA assay for cells with a very low amount of DNA. Next to that I made 3D spheroid cultures of carcinomas and kept track of their growth and cortisol production.
