I am a first-year student at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where I am majoring in marketing with a co-major in digital and social media business applications. I have a passion for communication, creating unique and exciting content, and exploring the business opportunities of social media. I have demonstrated these strengths through a variety of experiences, including my time working for American Eagle Outfitters as a social influencer. In this role, I analyzed my local American Eagle store’s engagement rates on Instagram and created posts to best improve the store's marketing strategy while also increasing the store’s foot traffic. I personally took the initiative to create a new marketing strategy that focused on a personalized fashion perspective to clothing and fashion. I created and organized new personalized photoshoots, edited photos and posted content to align with the company's brand image. As a result, our follower count increased by almost 18% and the average engagement rate doubled per post. The store saw a direct correlation, with increasing average daily traffic at the same time as these posts. Now at Indiana University, I continue to seek new opportunities to expand my knowledge and understanding of strategic marketing, consumer behavior, and content creation. I am broadening my career knowledge by enrolling in a variety of courses such as Interpersonal Communication and plan to be involved in student organizations such as the Panhellenic Association. In addition, I have become involved in the Campus Trendsetters program through Her Campus Media. This program has given me the opportunity to exclusively partner with select brands and create promotional content in exchange for products, while also connecting and collaborating with other aspiring college-age creators from across the world. I hope to grow my involvement on campus by joining the Panhellenic Association–which offers excellent leadership, volunteering, and networking opportunities for its members–and through this become involved in the media presentation of my future sorority. To continue strengthening my skills in communication, content creation, and the business aspect of social media, I plan to monetize my current social media accounts, and look forward to participating in a social media internship in the future. Inevitably, I imagine myself pursuing a career in marketing through social media, where I can use my skills to create unique, engaging marketing content for a brand to help expand their customer engagement.
