About Demara Austin
I believe that everyone can be a mathematician and that everyone deserves access to one-on-one tutoring. After years in the classroom, I have seen the impact of a family who has access to private tutors compared to families who don’t. Students with private tutors may start the year with similar grades as another student, but finish the year with a better grade and a greater sense of confidence in their math ability. Students who don’t have access to private tutoring but need math classes for their dream careers are often forced to take math classes several times in college, chipping away at their self-esteem and sometimes completely changing their path. I would like to make sure that more families in Maryland can afford private math tutoring. I am creating a nonprofit to offer affordable virtual tutoring in the state of Maryland. Until that process is complete, I am offering tutoring for donation at $10-$50 per session, no paperwork required - just say what you can afford.
