I joined Dependable Hawaiian Express as their Safety & Training Supervisor. DHX is the #1 shipper of goods domestically to Hawaii. In addition to Hawaii, we ship goods internationally to countries all over the world. My previous experience in Human Resources, Safety and Compliance has me well equipped to tackle any of the challenges I might be presented with in this position. I have learned a lot about logistics and what being a leader in the industry means. Becoming ISO Certified has given me additional skills on how I can educate customers as well as employees on the regulations we must comply with in our industry. Building a connection with our customers and employees to reach our compliance and safety goals is a my priority. As a Human Resources Representative and EHS Support Specialist I would interact with all levels of employees in a variety of capacities. I worked with managers and employees to resolve employee relations and safety issues. I responded to employee questions about benefits including worker's comp claims and leaves of absence. I conducted new hire orientation and educated new employees on company policies. I enjoy interacting with employees and making a positive impact in their daily work experience. As a Safety Coordinator I communicated daily with customers both internal and external to meet the EHS compliance requirements of OSHA as well as our customers. I have extensive experience with safety compliance websites such as ISNetworld, PICS, and PEC. I managed an in-house random program with 100% DOT compliance. I was part of a team that worked to reduce the OSHA recordable number from above 1.0 to below 1.0 which resulted in a premium savings of over $1 million. I worked with managers and our insurance carriers to get our employees back to work and keep the cost of claims down. I partnered with the recruiting department in the on-boarding process to ensure our applicants were able to perform the essential functions of their job. I built relationships with customers to streamline the process for site access while maintaining compliance. I participated in accident and injury investigations with Field EHS Managers and assisted them with safety training and documentation.
