As a Sr. Career Management Consultant, I coach candidates through post-employment support by facilitating transition workshops, working with candidates 1:1, and through virtual learning techniques. I facilitate career transition workshops in English or Spanish to displaced employees of clients of major corporations that are experiencing a reduction in force or company closure. I guide employees through phases of transition from unemployment to employment and the stages associated with each phase. Each workshop focuses on effective job search best practices, strategies and tools by teaching employees how to market their talents and take charge of their career. Emphasis is placed on teaching employees how to identify and articulate their goals, strengths, skills, and valuable experience to employers during a job search and interviews. Through learning, role-playing and feedback, employees build interviewing and negotiating skills. During the course of the workshop, employees create an updated resume that stands out from the competition, which is an organized presentation of their work experience, accomplishments, skills, and abilities. In addition to facilitating workshops, I meet with displaced employees being impacted by a reduction in force or company closure at the time of notification to discuss their outplacement services sponsored by their employer.

My tenure as an educator has afforded me a variety of opportunities, not only in the classroom but also as a member of the administrative staff. I have served in a variety of leadership roles, coordinating and managing school-wide projects and various site-based programs. Besides creating and executing lesson plans during teachers’ long-term absences, I have also mentored and taught Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) classes to first generation college bound students, especially those students traditionally underrepresented in higher education, to prepare them for success in high school, college, and a career. Administrative assignments have included developing, implementing and managing the English Language Arts/Math Intervention Program for at-risk students, including staffing, student placement, and curriculum design. Most recently, I assumed responsibilities of Instructional Coach managing the administration of the Smarter Balanced Assessment System testing (SBAC), English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), English Language Arts and Math programs.

As a Staffing Specialist and Sr. Personnel Services Officer, I was responsible for the supervision and performance evaluation of a Personnel Coordinator and Staffing Assistant while orchestrating recruitment activities for the hiring of exempt and nonexempt employees for the U.S. Wholesale Division. This required sourcing and creating a qualified candidate pool from internal, external, and displaced employees and matching them to open positions within the division. I conducted interviews to assess applicant’s work experience and skills for new hires or facilitate the placement process of displaced employees. During department closures, I calculated employee’s severance packages, conducted exit benefit interviews, and prepared separation paperwork. As an Employment Officer, I recruited applicants from local high schools, vocational schools, and community colleges. I was responsible for the full cycle recruitment process; interviewing candidates, making hiring decisions, determining placement and salary, and conducting new hire onboarding.
